Jason Mraz - We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things Review

I'm back after a long time of vacation... :) And I'm also back to make reviews of my favorite albums that I listen to. I'm really impressed with Jason Mraz' new album "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things"! He's really a good musician and it reflects on his album. His album peaked at no.3 in the Billboard 200, Jason's highest peaking album ever. The song "I'm Yours", which has a "hawaiian-folk style" melody (as I define it) sparked my curiousity on the album. The music video for that song, which shows different beach sceneries also suits the song. I also liked his collaboration with Colbie Caillat on the song "Lucky". The duet sounds perfect as it goes well with the acoustic tune. His single "Make It Mine" also sounds good that it "makes me dance" while listening to it! :)

Jason Mraz' third album really lived up to my expectations. I rate it as one of my favorite album in my collection. If you like to relax, to sing, to dance (but not to still though) along with the music, then you should consider listening to this album!

Album Track Listing

1. "Make It Mine"
2. "I'm Yours"
3. "Lucky"
4. "Butterfly"
5. "Live High"
6. "Love for a Child"
7. "Details in the Fabric"
8. "Coyotes"
9. "Only Human"

11. "If It Kills Me"
12. "A Beautiful Mess"

Maroon 5 will "Make you Wonder"

Ever heard the songs "This Love", "She will be love", "I won't go home without you" and "If I Never See Your Face"? Just in case you're not even aware of it (I suggest you should start listening to the radio.. lol), those are the songs popularized by Maroon 5! It makes me wonder though what kind of band Maroon 5 is (I'm not talking about colors here)... Maroon 5 is an American Pop/Alternative Rock Band which was formed somewhere in LA. The band is composed of Adam Levine, James Valentine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, and Matt Flynn. The band won several awards for its debut album "Songs About Jane" which was released in June 2002. The album was successful going 3x Platinum in many parts of the world! The album charted at NO.1 in Australia and UK.

Their second album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" also enjoyed a worldwide success. Levine himself said that this album is "sexier and stronger" than their previous album. The album is inspired by artists like Shabba Ranks, Michael Jackson, Prince and Talking Heads thus, the members described the songs as having a very "retro feel". I guess I have to agree with that! Songs like "If I Never See Your Face Again" and "Makes Me Wonder" would really make you dance and groove with the music! :)

Even the critics agree that its a good album! Billboard and Allmusic rated the album 4.5 stars out of 5, commenting that the album "is so immaculate that it glistens". Before its release, the song "Makes Me Wonder" was the no.1 selling single on iTunes. It was also the no.1 selling album, with more than fifty thousand digital pre-sales. Upon it's release the album breaks the iTunes sales records for its week of release, selling over a hundred thousand albums. As of today, the album has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide.

So what do you think about Maroon 5? Do they still make you wonder why they had great success? If you still don't know then just check out their songs and enjoy... :)

Leona Lewis gets "better in time"

I recently bought her album and I really liked her songs and I really admire the quality of her voice. But it's not just me who admire her voice, Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh (X Factor judges) liked it also. Leona Lewis is an English Pop and RNB singer who won the third series of the United Kingdom's T.V talent show The X Factor. Leona proves that she deserves to be the winner and that she really has the X Factor. No wonder why most of Leona Lewis' fans describe her as the "The New Mariah Carey".

Her singles also highlighted the success of her career. Her songs such as "Bleeding Love", "Footprints in the sand" and "Better in Time" topped the international singles charts, including the Australia, France, Canada, Germany and United States. Interestingly, her debut single ""A Moment Like This", broke a world record because it was downloaded for over 50,000 times within thirty minutes! I personally like her version than Kelly Clarkson's. Her remake of Ewan MacColl's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" also amazed me; the light piano background suits her powerful voice.

Leona's debut album "Spirit" also dominated the charts. The album was released on November 12, 2007 in the UK, where it entered the UK Albums Chart at No.1. "Spirit" also broke another record being the UK's fastest selling debut album. It also charted at number one in Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Taiwan, Netherlands, Canada and United States. The album is also "the fourth fastest selling album of all time" selling over 3 Million copies worldwide. So what do you think, will Leona Lewis replace divas like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion? I guess not, but her talents makes her not just a good singer, but an outstanding superstar as well. Well-suited for being the next diva. :)

Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing Review

As I've said earlier, I am really an Avril Lavigne fan. And this album really proves that she's the best damn thing! The tracks that I personally like in the album are "when you're gone", "The Best Damn Thing" and "Keep Holding On", which was included on the Eragon soundtrack. Those songs are well-written and has good choice of words. The MTV for the track "When You're Gone" suited well for the lyrics. I find the Music video very similar to Greenday's "Wake Me Up When September Ends". However, I found the track "girlfriend" quite crappy because of profane languages used (most of the tracks used "shit", "bitch" etc etc...). It's not surprising though because Avril Lavigne herself described the album as "bratty, fast, young, fun, confident, aggressive, cocky in a playful way...all the good stuff."

Good stuff huh? Well, I have to agree with that! It's not good for kids though, because the album bears the Parental Advisory label. Because of this, some children's radio stations such as Radio Disney do not play her new singles anymore. The album did well on the charts though. For example, it ranked no. 1 on Austrian, UK, US, Japanese album charts! The album is also certified 3x platinum selling over 6 Million copies worldwide! So what do you think about the album? As for me, I'm ranking it as the "best damn thing".

Avril Lavigne - Keep Holding On (MTV)

Yeah, it's true... I'm a certified avril lavigne fan! And as for me, this is one of Avril's best song so far, aside from "when You're gone"(I like the video for that song). I hope to post more of her videos in my blog but unfortunately... How unfortunate..,that it's disabled for embedding "by request"... Oh boy! Anyway, here is the mtv of the song. I think this is not the original though, it just contain clips from the movie "Eragon" (a perfect soundtrack for the movie)... So here's the clip, enjoy! :)

The “Modern Music” of The Click Five

If you like bands similar to Green Day, then The Click Five would definitely suit your taste. The Click Five is an American Alternative Rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. They are composed of Kyle Patrick, Joe Guese, Ethan Mentzer, Ben Romans and Joey Zehr. Four of the five original members attended the Berklee College of Music. They also participated in many other rock bands before coming together to form “The Click”, which later became The Click Five. Their debut album’s title got its name from a rented house on Imrie Road. The album, Greetings from Imrie House, was released 16 August 2005.

The band began recording their first album at QDivision Studios in Somerville with Mike Denneen, under the record label Lava Records. Following the completion of the recording, they began touring, at smaller venues around the Boston area to larger ones across North America.

In late 2006,the lead singer Eric Dill left the band. In early 2007, the band brought on new lead singer Kyle Patrick. Then, the band recorded their second studio album, Modern Minds and Pastimes. It was released on 26 June 2007. After the release, they had a small United States tour. The band returned to Asia in autumn 2007 with a significantly larger itinerary. They were given the title "Band of the Year" by 987FM (Singapore) in the Top 100 Countdown of 2007. On August 2, 2008, The Click Five won the Knockout Award at MTV Asia Awards 2008, in Genting Highlands, Malaysia. On August 29, 2008, lead singer Kyle Patrick announced on his Myspace page that he is going on a solo acoustic tour with his friend Jesse Ruben in some cities in the US.

They are currently back on the studio, writing new songs for their new album, which they plan to release by early 2009.

Coldplay's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends Review

Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (also simply known as Viva la Vida) is the fourth studio album by British alternative rock band Coldplay. I liked the songs on this album; however, I find the title quite crappy… It’s just my opinion though. :) It made me wonder where on earth they got the title for the album. While googling and browsing the web, I’ve read that the album got it’s name (Viva la Vida takes) from a painting by Frida Kahlo, the acclaimed 20th century Mexican artist. Although the title name is attributed to Kahlo, the album cover art is actually an 1830 painting by Eugène Delacroix entitled Liberty Leading the People.

The album was released on 11 June 2008 in Japan, 12 June 2008 in the United Kingdom and on 17 June 2008 in North America. In May 2008, Coldplay released two singles from the record: "Violet Hill" and "Viva la Vida", the latter becoming the band's first song to reach number one in the United States and the United Kingdom. As of September 2008, more than 5 million copies have been sold worldwide, making it the best selling album of the year.

The album has, to date, been the number-one-selling album in 36 countries around the world. In the United States, it sold 316,000 copies in its first day, and 720,000 in its first week. In the UK, the album sold 125,000 copies in its first day of release and 302,074 in three days, debuting at number one. The album has since sold over 500,000 copies in 10 days since its release, beating the first week UK sales of Coldplay's previous album, X&Y. Viva la Vida has become the most paid-for downloaded album of all time. In late 2008, Coldplay announced they would be releasing an EP, Prospekt's March, consisting of unreleased Viva la Vida material.

The ever hot Pussycat dolls dominate

"Inside every woman is a Pussycat Doll," says Robin Antin, the innovator behind the singing-and-dancing ensemble that has risen from underground cool to major label hot. "It's about female empowerment, about being confident with who you are. It's about singing and dancing in front of a mirror by yourself and having fun."

The Pussycat Dolls are an American pop girl group, and dance ensemble founded by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995. The group is composed of Ashley Roberts, Nicole Scherzinger, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton and Kimberly Wyatt. The group began as a burlesque troupe based in Los Angeles, before being "re-cast" as a music group in 2003, then diversified into Reality TV programmes, a Las Vegas act and venue, and other ventures overseen by Antin and her partners. The music group released their first single in 2004, and have gone on to international commercial success. On September 13, 2005, they released their debut album, PCD, debuting at number five on the Billboard 200. Their first single, "Don't Cha" was a hit, reaching number one in multiple countries including UK, Australia and Canada and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was originally a cover of the Tori Alamaze single featuring rapper Busta Rhymes. The group won a Billboard Music Award for "Don't Cha" (Ralphi Rosario mix) as Hot Dance Music/Club Play Single of the Year. The ballad "Stickwitu" was another top five in the U.S.

They recently released their second studio album Doll Domination on September 23, 2008. Their first single "When I Grow Up" was released on May 2008. The song charted in the top 40 in most countries. The song charted at number nine on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play.

Well, I guess the pussycat dolls really succeeded in their domination… Don’t cha agree?!

Avril Lavigne – She’s the best damn thing

She rock, she’s hot and she’s the best damn thing… And she’s one of my favorite artists! Avril Lavigne even at a young age, is indeed quite talented… She was a Canadian Grammy Award-nominated rock singer and songwriter. But the list doesn’t end here; she’s also fashion designer, and an actress. In 2006, Canadian Business Magazine ranked her the seventh most popular Canadian in Hollywood.

Avril Lavigne was born in Belleville, Ontario on September 27, 1984, the daughter of Judy and John Lavigne. She has an elder brother, Matthew, and a younger sister, Michelle. Lavigne's mother was the first to spot young Lavigne’s talent. At the age of 2, Lavigne began singing along with her mother on church songs. The family moved to Napanee, Ontario, when Lavigne was 5-years-old. In 1998, Lavigne won a competition to sing with fellow Canadian singer Shania Twain on her first major concert tour. She appeared alongside Twain at her concert in Ottawa, appearing on stage to sing "What Made You Say That." She was discovered by her first professional manager, Cliff Fabri, while singing country covers at a Chapters bookstore in Kingston, Ontario. During a performance with the Lennox Community Theatre, Lavigne was spotted by local folk singer Steve Medd, who invited her to sing on his song, "Touch the Sky," for his 1999 album, Quinte Spirit. At the age of 16, she was signed by Ken Krongard, the artists-and-repertoire (A&R) representative of Arista Records, who invited the head of Arista, Antonio "L.A." Reid, to hear her sing at the New York City studio of producer Peter Zizzo.

She then completed work on her first debut album, Let Go. Her album was released on June 4, 2002 in the United States, it has reached number two there and number one in Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. This made Lavigne, at seventeen, the youngest female soloist to have a number-one album in the UK up until that time.

Lavigne was named "Best New Artist" at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, won four Juno Awards in 2003 (out of six nominations), received a World Music Award for "World's Best-Selling Canadian Singer", and was nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including "Song of the Year" for "Complicated" and "Best New Artist".

Avril Lavigne's second album, Under My Skin, was released on May 25, 2004, in the U.S. It debuted at number one in the U.S., the UK, Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Ireland, Thailand, Korea and Hong Kong and sold more than 380,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week. Lavigne wrote most of the album with Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, though some tracks were co-written by Ben Moody (formerly of Evanescence), Butch Walker of Marvellous 3, her former lead guitarist Evan Taubenfeld, and her former drummer Matt Brann. Kreviazuk's husband, Our Lady Peace front man Raine Maida, co-produced the album with Butch Walker and Don Gilmore.

Lavigne's third album, The Best Damn Thing, was released on April 17, 2007 and debuted at number one in the U.S. The album was produced by Dr. Luke, Lavigne's husband Deryck Whibley, Rob Cavallo, Butch Walker and Lavigne. Travis Barker recorded drums for the record. The first single from the album was "Girlfriend", which became Lavigne's first single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. On Ryan Seacrest's radio show Lavigne said that "When You're Gone" would be the second single. Lavigne's third single from the album is "Hot". The fourth and final single of the album is "The Best Damn Thing".

Avril Lavigne’s career only shows that she is indeed “the best damn thing”… A very very talented artist. She may be a bit more complicated these days, but she’s still the good ‘ol peerless, and still fearless Avirl Lavigne of our time....Still not convinced about her talents? Then just check out some of her songs and see for yourself.

Peer to Peer Music Sharing and It's "Real Effects" on the Industry

Free Music, free songs, free downloads... Who wouldn't be tempted to that?! We all love music, especially if it's free! :) You might be wondering however, "Is it just ok to promote or support P2P (Peer to Peer) networks? Lots of people download music and movies using file sharing software. Especially young people, those who grew up with Internet, find it totally normal to download music. Most of them are very adept at finding their kind of music and downloading it straight to their PC.

Online piracy has cut into national music sales by nearly a third since 1999, sending record and film revenues into a downward spiral, which hits everyone in the industry hard, from the record store clerks, songwriters, and technicians, to the artists themselves. Sometimes referred to as P2P, file sharing applications like the original Napster are a virtual treasure trove of music, movies, and software. If you use P2P software to download music, movies, or software, you may also be sharing those files to others.

Increasingly frustrated by the rise of illegal downloading, the music and film industries have been making examples of individual file-swappers. During the past year, the music and film industries have been bombarding colleges and universities with notices of illegal downloads of music and movie files by students. Recently, the music industry filed suit against four college students across the country, seeking billions of dollars in damages.

Despite all these lawsuits targeting campus pirates, more than half of all college students still download music and movies illegally, according to the University of Richmond’s Intellectual Property Institute. The music industry is fighting a losing battle to stop this downloading; they should realize that it is impossible to stop the downloading of music, it will only grow. Trying to stop it is a dead end street, it is much better to use the Internet.

Many musicians, artists, and software developers are changing the way they do business and are providing their works on the Internet for free. Maybe this is the way it should be. Musicians could make their money with performing, they could use the Internet to promote their music, and so they can charge more for their concerts. In the future they could even use the Internet to broadcast their live shows and in this way make more from a single concert. Then they still have a lot of other money making opportunities, for example commercials. A lot of musicians make a lot of money this way.

What ever the future brings, no one knows, but it is pretty sure that downloading of music for free from the Internet is here to stay, and the musician of today will be better of if they understand this and use it to their advantage.

Lifehouse shows “Who They Really Are”

Well, Lifehouse is indeed a great band… And this album really shows what they’re made off… Their fourth album, entitled Who We Are, was released on June 19, 2007 . The album features Wade, Woolstenhulme and Soderberg as its lineup, and "rocks a little harder" than their previous album, according to the band. The album was recorded in Kiefer Sutherland and Jude Cole's recording studio, Ironworks Studios, in Los Angeles. The album's release was followed by a tour with The Goo Goo Dolls and Colbie Caillat, which began June 15 at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, AZ, after which, according to Woolstenhulme, the band will go on a "world-wide headlining tour".

The album's first single was "First Time", released on April 24, 2007. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 48 in May, and peaked at #3 on the Hot Adult Top 40 Charts. The album's second single, "Whatever It Takes", was released to radio stations October 29, 2007. The music video for the song premiered on Yahoo Music on November 16, 2007.

The song "Broken", the album's third single, has appeared on several TV series, including Grey's Anatomy ("Lay Your Hands On Me"), Criminal Minds ("In Birth and Death"), One Tree Hill, and The Hills. As of January 24, 2008, it has peaked at #2 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart (The equivalent of #102 on the Hot 100). The Music Video for "Broken" was debuted on Thursday September 11th, 2008.

According to Entertainment Tonight's website, Lifehouse is having a contest to make a video for the song "Make Me Over". The band is giving 60 USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate students a chance to shoot the video for their new single.

Lifehouse announced in August of 2008 that they will be starting on their fifth album which is tentatively scheduled for an early 2009 release. For the meantime, just check their album and enjoy. :)

Coldplay - They just like playing cold

Do they really play cold or their songs are just mellow? Coldplay is an alternative rock band formed in London, England on 16 January 1998. The group comprises of vocalist/pianist/guitarist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Will Champion. Coldplay have sold 35 million albums, and are also known for their hit singles, such as "Yellow", "The Scientist", "Speed of Sound", "Fix You", "Viva la Vida" and the Grammy Award-winning "Clocks".

Coldplay achieved worldwide fame with the release of their single "Yellow", followed by their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Its follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) won multiple awards such as NME's Album of the Year and was later included on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, ranking at #473. Their next release, X&Y (2005), received a slightly less enthusiastic yet still generally positive reception. The band's fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends released on 2008 (I just think that the title for this album is a crappy one… Where the heck did they get it?), was produced by Brian Eno and released again to largely favourable reviews. All of Coldplay's albums have enjoyed great commercial success. Their songs are mostly mellow, but I still find their songs good music to my ears... :)

It’s “Simple Plan’s” simple plan…

Do you like pop punk rock music? Then simple plan’s music is definitely right for you.... Simple Plan is a French Canadian pop punk band based in Montreal, Quebec. The band began in 1993 by friends Pierre Bouvier, Charles-André "Chuck" Comeau, Philippe Jolicoeur, and Adrian White. They were known as “Reset” by that time. Reset toured around Canada with bands such as MxPx, Ten Foot Pole, and Face to Face, but only managed to gain modest popularity.

But where did they get the name “Simple Plan”? The origin of the band's name is obscure. Some of the band members have given various comical responses on this point, including that the band was their simple plan to avoid getting a "real" job. However, most likely, the name is derived from the movie "A Simple Plan". They only intended the name to be temporary, but they never thought of anything better, and with shows coming up for the new band, the name stuck – until now… Pretty simple huh?

The band has released three studio albums. The first one is No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls which was released in 2002. The album included the hit singles "I'm Just a Kid", "I'd Do Anything", "Addicted", and "Perfect". The second album Still Not Getting Any was released in 2004. Many of the tracks on this album still carry the feeling of teen angst, but the general slant of this album tends toward slightly deeper and more mature lyrical themes, as well as a more mainstream sound that edges away from the pure pop-punk style of their last album. Some critics have pointed towards the inclusion of 'classic' or “mainstream” rock elements, claiming the album “de-emphasizes punk-pop hyperactivity in favor of straightforward, well-crafted modern rock”. Their third studio album; the self-titled Simple Plan was released in February 2008. Their first single "When I'm Gone" gave the band their best chart position in the UK, coming in at number 26. So what do you think about simple plan? They may be simple, but their music rocks! :)

Mr. A-Z says “I’m Yours” (Jason Mraz Review)

Is there a person named Mr. A-Z? I don’t think so… As far as I know, I’m just making a review about Jason Mraz, his early life and his albums… And as usual, the title for this post just popped out somewhere.. Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz was born and raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia. His musical influences varied from pop, rock, folk, jazz, and hip hop. He has also played with various artists, including Bob Dylan, Alanis Morissette, The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, John Popper, James Blunt, The Ohio Players, Gavin DeGraw, Paula Cole, Rachael Yamagata, James Morrison, Jewel and Colbie Caillat.

In 2002, Mraz signed to Elektra Records and working with producer John Alagía (the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer) to release his debut album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come. It was certified platinum by the RIAA in July 2004 and reach #2 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart. His first single, "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)," was co-written by music production team The Matrix. Mraz's friend and former roommate Billy "Bushwalla".Galewood also collaborated on the album, co-writing "Curbside Prophet" (the album's third single).

In June and July 2005, Mraz opened for Alanis Morissette during her Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour. On July 26, 2005, he released his second major-label album, Mr. A-Z, for Atlantic Records. It entered the Billboard 200 album chart at number 5. In December, the album earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, while its producer, the prolific Steve Lillywhite, received a nomination for Producer of the Year.

On May 13, 2008, Mraz released his third studio album, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. "Lucky", the third song in the album, features Colbie Caillat. Mraz's single "I'm Yours" has been #1 on AAA radio charts in the US for 3 weeks as of 6/15/08 and was made famous by a live recording from his acoustic show at the Villa Montalvo Winery which received millions of hits on his Myspace. In July 2008, the song became Mraz's second Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking so far at #27.

Rihanna's 3rd album Good Girl Gone Bad Review

What do you think of Rihanna’s third album “Good Girl Gone Bad”? Is it good, really really good, or bad? Well most people would agree that this is her best album so far (even the critics agree). Her album was released on June 4, 2007 in most European countries and on June 5, 2007 in the United States. The album has achieved considerable worldwide success and its singles have become major hits— including the worldwide ever popular hit single "Umbrella". Her single "Don't Stop the Music” became a top three hit in the U.S. and Canada. "Hate That I Love You" and "Shut Up and Drive" were both included in the top 10 and top 15 hits on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. This is also her first album to receive a two times Platinum.

The album was re-released in June 2008, a year after its original release, under the title Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded. The double-disc deluxe edition package includes three new singles: the U.S., Canadian and UK number-one "Take a Bow", "If I Never See Your Face Again" (which debuted at number fifty-seven on the Billboard Hot 100) and "Disturbia" which became the third single from the album to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album has shipped more than 2 million copies in the U.S. and about 5.5 million copies worldwide. So what do you think is it good or bad? As for me, it’s really really good! Not yet convinced? Then just check out her album and hear for yourself…

Here is the track listing of the album.

The Lifehouse Project

No! No! This is not a school project or whatsoever.. This is just a review about lifehouse… The title just popped out of my mind. :) Lifehouse is an American rock band and they are one of my favorite bands! The band consists of Jason Wade, Rick Woolstenhulme Jr. and Bryce Soderberg. The former members were Sean Woolstenhulme, Sergio Andrade, Jon "Diff" Palmer, Collin Hayden and Aaron Lord.

The band came to prominence in 2001 with the hit single "Hanging by a Moment" (written by Jason Wade), which was the most played radio track of 2001 from their debut major label album, No Name Face. The single won a Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year, beating out Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys for the #1 Single of 2001. In 2002, they released their follow up album Stanley Climbfall. The band's third album, self-titled Lifehouse, was released in 2005. The band released their fourth studio album, Who We Are, on June 19, 2007.

With You by Chris Brown or With You (Acoustic) - Which one is the best?

You’ll definitely agree that Chris Brown’s With You is indeed a great song! RnB is one of my favorite genres and I'm convinced that Chris has done a great job on this song. While his other previous single had up-beat/hip-hop influenced tempo, "With You" was well-received by critics for its simple, strumming guitar harmony. Bill Lamb of About.com gave the song four and a half stars, and characterized it as "perfect slow dance option". He said "Chris Brown makes countless young fans swoon, but, until now, he has not yet released a top-notch romantic performance. With You is that performance. The lyrics may be a bit simplistic in the "you're everything, you make me swoon" style, but this sound is a great one for staring into your lover's eyes as you make your way across a darkened dance floor.

However, you might also be surprised how a band called “boyce avenue” “automagically” rearranged “With You” from an RnB genre to an acoustic one. Many people are also amazed by their performance. Some of them even commented that their version is better than the original! And I’m starting to think that way too! :) You can watch their video below… And see the difference…;)

Chris Brown's version was disabled for embedding by request. However you can still watch his video on You Tube.

So which one of them is the best? That’s up for you to decide.

Chris Brown Review

Christopher Maurice Brown (born May 5, 1989) is a Grammy nominated American R&B and pop singer-songwriter, dancer, music video director and actor. He made his recording debut in late 2005 with Chris Brown at the age of 16. The album featured the hit single "Run It!", which topped the Billboard Hot 100, making Brown the first male artist to have his debut single to top the chart. The album sold two million copies in the United States and was subsequently certified multi-platinum by the RIAA.

Brown's second studio album, Exclusive was released worldwide in November 2007. It spawned two successful singles; his second U.S. number one hit, "Kiss Kiss" featuring T-Pain and "With You", which peaked at n
umber two on the Billboard Hot 100. His latest single, "Forever", was released in May 2008 from the deluxe Exclusive: The Forever Edition and has peaked at number two on Billboard Hot 100. Exclusive has gone platinum, selling over one million units.

In addition to his solo commercial success, Brown has been featured on several hits such as "No Air", a duet with singer Jordin Sparks, "Shortie like Mine" with the rapper Bow Wow and "Shawty Get Loose" alongside Lil Mama and T-Pain. The songs have peaked on number three, number nine and number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 respectively. Due to his vocal and dance routines, Brown has been compared to renowned R&B artists such as Usher and Michael Jackson, citing both as large influences on his music.

David Cook

David Roland Cook (born December 20, 1982) is an American rock singer-songwriter. On May 21, 2008, he won the seventh season of the reality television show American Idol. Prior to Idol he released an album entitled Analog Heart.

Early life
Cook was born in Houston, Texas, but was raised in Blue Springs, Missouri. His parents are Beth (née Frye) and Stan Cook. He is the middle of three brothers. Adam is the oldest, and Andrew is the youngest.

Cook's interest in music began early in life; he received his first guitar at the age of 2. He began singing in second grade, when his elementary school music teacher gave him a solo in a school choir performance. He proceeded to perform in virtually every Christmas and PTA program. He also participated in choir and drama programs in middle school and high school. At Blue Springs South High School, he performed in musicals, including The Music Man, West Side Story, and Singin' in the Rain.

He was also an avid baseball player during high school. After losing interest in sports, he focused more on music. He earned a theater scholarship to the University of Central Missouri, but he abandoned theater after two semesters, graduating from the school in 2006 with a degree in graphic design. While in college, he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa. After his college graduation, he relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to pursue a career in music, telling his family, "I just want to give myself until I'm 26 years old to get a job."

Musical background
Cook was the lead singer and guitarist of the band Axium from 1999 until 2006. He formed Axium in his junior year of high school with drummer Bobby Kerr. One of the band's songs, "Hold", was picked up by AMC Theatres Movie Tunes and was played before previews on over 20,000 screens nationwide. Axium was also named one of the top 15 independent bands in the country in the "Got Milk?" independent band contest, and it was chosen as the best band in Kansas City in 2004.

In 2006, after the breakup of Axium, Cook relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and joined the regional touring band Midwest Kings, playing guitar, bass, and singing backup vocals. He recorded one EP, Incoherent with Desire to Move On, with the band in 2006. He also worked as a bartender at several Tulsa clubs, including Blank Slate and Rehab Lounge.

Cook released a solo independent album, Analog Heart, in 2006, for which he also designed the artwork. The album was chosen as the fourth-best CD released in 2006 by website Music Equals Life. Cook also won the Urban Tulsa Weekly's "Absolute Best of Tulsa" award for "Best Locally Produced, Independent Album" in 2007. He had completed recording his sophomore album before his appearance on American Idol. Over the weekend of April 18 to April 20, 2008, Analog Heart was listed as the number one album for "Today's Top MP3 Albums" on Amazon.com. Soon there after, the album was removed from Amazon. His musical influences include Our Lady Peace, Alice in Chains, Big Wreck, Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, Switchfoot, Bon Jovi and Collective Soul.

American Idol
Overview
Cook auditioned for American Idol in Omaha, Nebraska, performing Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer." He originally did not plan to try out for the show; he came to the auditions initially to support his younger brother Andrew (who did not make it to Hollywood) and then, at his brother's urging, David tried out himself. For his first Hollywood audition, Cook performed "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" by Bryan Adams, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. Cook took advantage of the decision to allow contestants to play musical instruments. Besides his Hollywood audition, he also accompanied himself on electric guitar for his performances of "All Right Now," "Hello," "Day Tripper," "I'm Alive," "Baba O'Riley," "Dare You to Move," and "Dream Big," and on acoustic guitar for "Little Sparrow," "All I Really Need Is You," and "The World I Know." His white, left-handed Gibson Les Paul electric guitar has the letters "AC" on it; as Cook told TV Guide, "I have two brothers, Adam and Andrew. So, because of superstition, I put their initials on everything growing up." Since the Top 12 week, he has also been wearing an orange wristband to support a 7-year-old fan, Lindsey Rose, with leukemia. Cook's performance of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" was highly praised by all three judges, especially Simon Cowell. Cowell later said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the performance "was in a different league to anything we've heard on the season so far," and although he knew where the arrangement came from (Chris Cornell's remake of the Michael Jackson original), "that doesn't really matter." The performance has received well over 4.5 million views on YouTube. Cook's rendition of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" was also highly praised, receiving a standing ovation from Randy Jackson. Another of Cook's performances, The Beatles' "Day Tripper", was credited to Whitesnake. Seattle-based band Doxology has claimed that Cook's performance of The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" was based on a version the band recorded over a year ago. On April 1, before performing his self-arranged rendition of Dolly Parton's "Little Sparrow" on American Idol, Cook responded to Ryan Seacrest in the interview session, revealing that his performance of "Eleanor Rigby" was based on Neil Zaza's and Doxology's versions. He also reiterated the credits of Whitesnake and Chris Cornell. Despite the controversy, critics praised Cook for choosing versions of songs that fit his vocal style. His arrangements of "Hello," "Little Sparrow," "Always Be My Baby," "All I Really Need Is You," "Baba O'Riley," "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" were original arrangements.

Cook won the seventh season of American Idol on May 21, 2008, receiving 56% of the votes, with 12 million votes over David Archuleta as the runner-up. Cook then sang "The Time of My Life", the winning song of the 2008 American Idol Songwriter's Competition.

During the finale, Cook appeared in a commercial for the game franchise Guitar Hero, mimicking Tom Cruise in Risky Business. Fellow finalist David Archuleta appeared in a separate commercial parodying the same scene. Both commercials were directed by Brett Ratner.

Post-Idol career
For the Billboard chart week ending May 25, 2008, a week following Cook's American Idol victory, Cook broke several Billboard chart records. Most notable was his record shattering feat of having eleven songs debut on the Hot 100 that week, beating the previous record set by Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) in 2006 when she had six songs debut on the chart. Cook's first single, "The Time of My Life" led the pack, debuting at #3 on the Hot 100. Cook's eleven charting songs also gave him the most songs by one artist on the Hot 100 of any week in the Nielsen SoundScan era (which began in 1991), and the most of any era since The Beatles placed 14 songs on the chart the week of April 11, 1964. In addition, that same week Cook also broke the record for the most debuts on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart, where he placed 14 debut entries, the record of which was previously six set by Bon Jovi in 2007. Cook's 17 entries had a combined total of 944,000 digital downloads in the first week of selling. In June 2008, Cook became the first ever American Idol winner to have success in the UK singles chart with a winner's single. The song reached #61 due to downloads alone.

Cook has been working with Ed Roland (Collective Soul), Zac Maloy (The Nixons), Jason Wade (Lifehouse), Neal Tiemann (MWK) and Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace) on his upcoming album, which is set to be released in November 2008. The producer for the album is Rob Cavallo. According to DirectCurrentMusic.com, Cook's new album has a scheduled BMG street date of November 11, though that date is tentative.

Cook has also signed an endorsement deal with Skechers, that will run through December 2009. At the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, Cook won the Best Reality/Variety Star award.
